Background info: Her career begun at the SC Dynamo Berlin. She won two silver medals at Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 when she was only fourteen years old. In 1993, she was named the Female World Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World magazine. She earned ten career Olympic medals but never won gold. Her career ended at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. On Jan. 7th, 2007 she gave birth to her son Don Hugo.
