Square Watermelons
Japanese grocery stores had a big problem. They are much smaller than stores in the US and they don’t have room to waste. Watermelons are big and round so they wasted a lot of space. So farmers in Japan are now grow cube-shaped watermelons by inserting the fruit into tempered glass squares while it is still growing on the vine. Not only are they really cool looking, they take up less room in the fridge and don’t roll around. But be prepared to shell out between $105 to $120 US dollars if want to enjoy one.
